Sanctioned event
A tournament that's certified by a governing body (USA Pickleball, IPF). Sanctioned results count toward official ratings + ranking points.

A sanctioned event has been certified by a governing body — most commonly USA Pickleball domestically, or the IPF internationally. Sanctioning means the event follows standard rules, uses approved equipment, and reports results to the rating system.
Most amateur tournaments are sanctioned; rec play and unsanctioned 'open play' events are not. Sanctioned results affect DUPR; unsanctioned ones don't (unless self-reported).
