Sweet spot

The area of the paddle face where contact produces maximum power with minimum vibration. Bigger sweet spot = more forgiveness on off-center hits.

Last revised

The sweet spot is the region of the paddle face where ball contact produces maximum power transfer + minimum vibration in the handle. Off-center hits lose power and feel harsh; sweet-spot hits feel solid.

Elongated paddles tend to push the sweet spot toward the tip (more reach, less forgiveness on shots hit near the throat). Standard-shape paddles spread the sweet spot more evenly. Beginners benefit from larger, more centered sweet spots.
